The Best Thing I’ve Ever Seen on a Football Field
The longest kickoff return in NFL history by an offensive lineman occurred last night when Patriots guard Dan Connolly returned a Packer’s squib kick 71 yards and nearly scored a touchdown. This is probably the best thing I’ve ever seen on a football field. All I could say while this was happening is “Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my God!” I was torn between the hilarity of the moment and the meaningfulness to the game. Unbelievable. If the game had been in hand for the Patriots, I’m sure Belichick would have tried to get Connolly a touchdown. He was so close! I’m still in awe of this play. Connolly is basically jogging with two hands on the ball waiting to be tackled and sees some daylight and shifts into high gear. The 6’4″ 313 pound guard managed to pull off a couple stiff arms and a little cutback on the play as well. Wow! I hope he wins an ESPY.
