FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 9 START ‘EM, SIT’ EM, HAIL MARYS

Start’em

Last Week’s Starts that made us look;

Good: Washington, S. Smith

Bad: Grossman (should have been Beck)

Avg: P. Thomas

QB Eli Manning (NYG) v. Patriots

Maybe Eli knew what he was talking about when he said he was a top 5 QB, he comes into this game 3rd in the NFL in QB rating at 102.1 and gets the worst pass defense in the league the Patriots (323 ypg.)  Manning may be without Hakeem Nicks but is still a great start.

RB Michael Turner (Atl) v. Colts

The Colts have been getting gashed on the ground (144 ypg)  left and right and up the middle this season. They allow the 2nd most fantasy points to RBs. Matt Ryan tends to struggle on the road so look for Turner to carry the offense.

WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (Oak) v. Broncos

A funny thing happened this year DHB actually started catching the ball, trying to avoid being a NFL draft 1st round bust. DHB has reached atleast 80 yds in his last 3 games. Carson Palmer is a new variable this week, but I like DHB vs the Broncos who are allowing the most fantasy points to WRs.

Brent Celek (Phi) v. Bears

The Bye week did the Eagles some good as their offense came out firing on all cylinders last week v. the Cowboys. It looks like the Eagles figured out that teams are trying to double the outside WRs; Maclin and Jackson and leaving the middle open. Celek has scored in 2 straight games. The Bears allow the 3rd  most fantasy points to TEs.

Sit’em

Last week’s Sit’ems that made us look;

Good: Kolb, M. Jenkins

Bad: McCoy

Avg: none

Ben Roethlisberger (Pit) v. Ravens

The Steelers got mauled by the Ravens in week 1, Big Ben threw 3 INTs. These Ravens/Steelers games tend to be low scoring. The Ravens allow the fewest fantasy points to QBs and less than 1 passing TD.

Ryan Torain (Was) v. 49ers

After being named the starter in the musical chairs backfield of the Redskins, Torain has 31 rushing yds over 3 games. Its hard to trust any Mike Shanahan RB, and even harder to trust them against the 49ers who only allowing 54 ypg rushing.

WR Steve Johnson (Buf) v. Jets

The Bills offense has slowed down in the second quarter of the season after a hot start. Johnson hasn’t topped 58 yards in 4 games and has a trip to Revis Island this week.

Rob Gronkowski/Aaron Hernandez (NE) v. Giants

This is a bold call, the Giants haven’t allowed a TD to a TE all season, but I don’t think they have faced any TEs like these 2. Temper your expectations a bif this week, and I think the Gronkowski may be asked to stay in and block a little more against the fierce Giants pass rush.

Hail Mary’s (Sleepers)

Last week’s Hail Mary’s that made us look;

Good: A. Brown

Bad: Can’t really look bad on a Hail Mary, but D. Thomas and S. Hill didn’t play

Avg. D. Carter

QB Carson Palmer (Oak) v. Broncos

He was forced into game action in Week 7 with only a few days practice, now he has had the bye week to prepare and plays the Broncos, who allow the most fantasy points to opposing QBs and over 2 TDs a week.

WR Sidney Rice (Min) v. Cowboys

About the only person excited when Tavaris Jackson plays is Rice, his numbers are much better than when Whitehurst has played. Dallas may be without their top CB Mike Jenkins, I think Rice will have a big day.

WR Michael Crabtree (SF) v. Redskins

I’m usually not a big fan of Crabtree, but he seems to be maturing now that the 49ers are winning. He has had 2 nice games in a row, and I think he will continue his success against the Redskins.

Owen Daniels (Hou) v. Browns

WR Andre Johnson may still be out this week, and Schaub has been looking his way with Johnson out. The Browns allow the 6th most fantasy points to TEs so its a plus matchup.
