Fantasy Football Week 6 Start ‘em, Sit em’, Hail Marys

You don’t need me to tell you to start your studs, here you will find some guys that I think will have good or bad games based on their matchups. Some of these picks will apply more to deeper or 2 QB leagues until bye weeks start. I will also pick some players I have nothing more than a hunch on with the Hail Mary picks.

Start ‘em

Last week’s Starts that made us look
Good: Stafford, Lynch, Floyd, Gresham
Bad: none

Average: none

QB Eli Manning (NYG) v. Bills

You never know what Giants team is going to show up each week. This could be a high scoring shootout where Eli will have to throw a lot against a Bills secondary that is allowing 2+ passing TDs per game.

RB Cedric Benson (Cin) v. Colts

It looks like Benson’s suspension is being swept under the rug for now. If you own Benson play him, the Colts are allowing the most fantasy points and TDs to RBs this season.

WR Miles Austin/Dez Bryant (Dal) v. Patriots

I feel like I’m picking on the Patriots secondary every week, but that’s what NFL teams are doing, taking advantage of the Pats weakness. The Cowboys are coming off a needed bye giving both Austin and Bryant time to recover from nagging injuries, I expect big games from both.

TE Jimmy Graham (NO) v. Buccaneers

Graham is becoming an absolute stud at the TE position, as another hoops to gridiron convert like Antonio Gates. Brees is looking for him often and the Bucs are allowing a TD per week to TEs.

Sit ‘em

Last week’s sits that made us look
Good: Blount
Bad: Forte, Turner
Average: Hasselback

QB Matt Schaub (Hou) v. Ravens

The Ravens are allowing the fewest total yards in the NFL and are top 10 in passing yards allowed, the Texans will be without WR Andre Johnson, it just doesn’t look like a good matchup for Schaub.

RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (NE) v. Cowboys

A lot of owners probably had BGE on their bench last week and missed out on his big game, and are licking their lips to play him this week, especially as a bye week replacement. The “Law Firm” didn’t practice thursday but still has a chance to play Sunday. The injury concern combined with the Cowboys only allowing 61 rushing yards per game, doesn’t look good for him.

RB Steven Jackson (Stl) v. Packers

The Packers are only allowing 55 ypg to opposing RBs this season. The Rams have struggled offensively this season. S-Jax could be a factor in the pass game but things don’t look good for him on the ground this week.

WR Pierre Garcon (Ind) v. Bengals

Garcon has become Curtis Painter’s go to guy and had nice games the past 2 weeks. The Bengals are top 5 against the pass and Garcon seems heading for a reality check this week.

Hail Marys (Sleepers)

Last week’s Hail Marys that made us look

Good: Painter
Bad: can’t really look bad on a HM, but Ridley did nothing
Average: Sanchez, T. Jones

QB Mark Sanchez (NYJ) v. Dolphins

Sanchez actually makes the list for the second straight week. He plays the Dolphins who are allowing over 2 passing TDs per game. If you need a bye week replacement Sanchez could be your guy.

WR Preston Parker (TB) v. Saints

This pick is based on nothing more than a hunch, Parker has been alternating good fantasy weeks with bad weeks, this week should be a good week. The Bucs should be playing from behind and need to throw.

RB Daniel Thomas (Mia) v. Jets

This is a real hail mary, the Dolphins will be starting Matt Moore at QB which could be a disaster, they will likely try to get Thomas the ball as much as possible against a bad Jets run Defense. The Jets could stack the box and force Moore to pass and this Thomas pick will end up like last week’s Ridley pick.

TE Visanthe Shiancoe (Min) v. Bears

Shiancoe may be the only Vikings player that misses Brett Favre, who targeted him often. If you need a TE this week, the Bears give up the most fantasy points to TE’s.
