Fantasy Football Projections: Start, Sit, Hail Mary

You don’t need me to tell you to start your studs, here you will find some guys that I think will have good or bad games based on their matchups. Some of these picks will apply more to deeper or 2 QB leagues until bye weeks start. I will also pick some players I have nothing more than a hunch on with the Hail Mary picks.

Start ‘em

Last week’s Starts that made us look Good: Bradshaw/Jacobs Bad: F. Davis, C. Newton (I’m using the monsoon excuse here) Average: Decker

QB Jay Cutler (Chi) vs Panthers

Cutler had a big day against a poor Packers passing D in Week 3, and while the Panthers pass D is better, the Bears are barely running the ball and Cutler is throwing the ball an average of 38 times per game.

RB Frank Gore (SF) vs Eagles

Gore is dealing with an ankle injury but the 49ers are saying “he is good to go.” but, we know how teams like to lie about injuries. The Eagles Defense is 3rd worst against the run allowing 131 ypg. If Gore is healthy he should have success here.

WR Denarius Moore (Oak) vs Patriots

Moore was a Hail Mary last week. He has scored the past 2 weeks after sitting out Week 1. The Raiders play the Patriots who are terrible against the pass, the Raiders will likely be playing from behind and need the pass game. There is a chance that he loses some snaps if Jacoby Ford is healthy.

RB Chris Johnson (Ten) vs Browns

A lot of CJ owners are ready to give up on him, but this is the week to stick with him. The Browns are ranked 29th against the run, the Titans lost their best WR Kenny Britt last week and will need to establish the run game.

Sit ‘em

Last week’s sits that made us look  Good: Romo, McNabb, Benson, R. Bush Bad: none  Average: none

QB Joe Flacco (Balt) vs Jets

Flacco is coming off a 300+ yd, 3 TD week 3 and owners might be excited to put him in their lineup but the Jets are #5 against the pass. Look for the Ravens to focus more on the run where the Jets are ranked 31st.

QB Colt McCoy (Clev) vs Titans

Most people are not starting McCoy anyway, but if you are in a deep league or a 2 QB league you may be thinking about it. The Titans have the #1 overall D and are #2 against the pass allowing only 172 yds per game. Stop thinking about it.

WR Dez Bryant (Dal) vs Lions

The Cowboys are pretty banged up, Romo made it through Week 3, as did Bryant, but Dez just doesn’t look healthy. The Lions are the #3 passing D, I would not start Bryant until he can show he is healthy.

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buf) vs Bengals

I know what you are thinking, Fitz has been carrying my team, well look at the teams he’s played; KC, Oak, NE. The Bengals are #5 in pass D, the first team the Bills have played not ranked in the bottom 10 pass Ds. Maybe you won’t sit him, but temper your expectations this week

Hail Marys (Sleepers)

Last week’s hail marys that made us look
Good: Fitzpatrick, Cutler, D. Moore, N. Washington  Bad: can’t really look bad on a HM, but none this week  Average: none

QB Donavan McNabb (Min) vs Chiefs

For McNabb this may be put up or shut up time, the Chiefs are looking like one of the worst teams in the NFL, this season. If McNabb fails against KC its gonna be Christian Ponder time.

QB Kyle Orton (Den) vs Packers

There is a lot of pressure on Orton, as the Denver fans are calling for Tim Tebow. Orton should be able to quiet the fans rage against the Packers 32nd ranked pass D. The Broncos should be playing from behind and that means garbage time points.

RB Mark Ingram (NO) vs Jaguars

Ingram finally scored last week, giving him some confidence. The Jags are #5 against the run, but I see the Saints having a commanding lead, running the ball, and I’m just going on a hunch here.

TE Greg Olson (Car) vs Bears

Olson goes up against his old team the Bears, who he feels wasted his talents. Olsen has connected with CamNewton and appears to be the #2 option behind Steve Smith. Olson scored last week, and had a TD called back in Week 2. I like the revenge factor.
