17. Pittsburgh Steelers – Alec Ogletree ILB, Georgia The Steelers need to replace some LBs, Ogletree is athletic and can play inside or outside. He comes with some off field concerns. CB is also a spot Steelers could look to fill. 18. Dallas Cowboys – Sheldon Richardson DT, Missouri Cowboys could use a OG or S but will find the value at DT to be better. Richardson can play inside or outside and will be a good fit for Monte Kiffin’s 4-3 Defense. 19. New York Giants – Tyler Eifert TE, Notre Dame The Giants have stuck to taking the best player available the past few drafts regardless of need. Eifert at this point...
2013 NFL Mock Draft – Picks 1-16

Who will be a star? Who will be a bust? It doesn’t seem like any of the highly paid experts can figure this out, so here’s my non-highly paid, but often as accurate 2013 NFL Mock Draft. This draft seems to have a lot less certainty than past drafts making the mock process even more of an adventure. 1. Kansas City Chiefs – Luke Joeckel OT, Texas A&M The Chiefs took care of their QB need by trading for Alex Smith and signing Chase Daniel. They released Eric Winston and seem to be pushing Branden Albert out the door. Joeckel and Eric Fisher are the top Tackle prospects. I would go with Joeckel who played in the SEC...

Steve Sidwell is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. The long time NFL defensive coordinator talked to us about football and life. It was a great time. Sidwell has coached hall of fame players in New Orleans, New England, Seattle, Houston, Indianapolis and SMU. He was at SMU during the days recently documented in ESPN’s 30 for 30, Pony Excess, and discussed that era and the scandal-ridden Southwest Conference. We also got into the Ghosts of Ole Miss (another ESPN 30 for 30 documentary) era. Steve delved into a couple TV and movie reviews including Spartacus. We also discussed life as a coach, getting started in...

Patriots fans allegedly taunted Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith about his deceased brother. This allegation is now being used by many, as is so often the case, to paint the entire Patriots fan base as vile, ruthless creatures who care only about winning and eating newborns. Any Patriots...

I wrote the post below this one prior to Sunday’s shit storm in Seattle (Let’s call it the Seahawkalypse). I now think a lot of what I wrote might just be bullshit. The Seahawkalypse made me conscious of something that’s been bugging me for some time. The Patriots have become a team that just finds ways to lose. Examples: At Seattle – 10-14-12 – Pats lead 23-10 with 9:21 remaining… If not for Brady’s two red zone misfires earlier in the game this lead is at least 29-10. The offense goes into the tank for the rest of the game and the defense gives up 2 TDs to lose 24-23. At Denver –...
